JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir will conduct a review or review of state companies that are able to survive after the COVID-19 pandemic. Erick said that this effort is part of improving the performance of the state-owned company.
Furthermore, Erick said the COVID-19 pandemic had hit 90 percent of SOEs. However, he said, there are also many SOEs that are healthy despite the pandemic.
"We are also reviewing which post-COVID-19 will continue (sustainable). Therefore, we continue to improve in each of these SOEs," he said in the IDX Channel virtual dialogue, quoted Friday, September 17.
Erick said that although the majority of SOEs were affected by the pandemic, most of their financial flows were still in a healthy condition. So, according to him, there is no need to get special attention from the government.
Even so, said Erick, in order for operations to be more effective and produce optimal performance, the transformation process must be carried out. One way to do this is by clustering state companies operating in the same business.
Erick said that this was done on the grounds that only a few units of state-owned enterprises that contributed greatly to dividends. Meanwhile, in total, the company and its descendants are very much impacted on the ineffectiveness of operating expenses.
"We want to ensure that the controlling supply chain system clustering in SOEs takes place, from 108 to 41 companies. (BUMN) that pay dividends are 20 big companies, that's all. So why have a lot of them, it's better to have a little but the contribution big," he said.
In the future, said Erick, monitoring the performance of SOEs will also be carried out by companies that have been listed on the stock exchange. All of its performance and funding flows will be monitored regularly.
"We see if I'm not mistaken there are 26 or 28 SOEs that have been listed on the stock exchange," he said.
