Erick Thohir Brings Good News: Pertamina Finds Oil Reserves Of 204 Million Barrels After Consolidation

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said PT Pertamina (Persero) managed to find oil and gas reserves of 204 million barrels. Erick said the achievement was obtained after the company consolidated with several subsidiaries.

Furthermore, Erick said the policy taken was able to improve the company's performance. So that it can bring benefits to the country.

"So far, we have lacked discoveries of gas and oil sources. After consolidation (Pertamina) we have new findings of 204 million barrels and most importantly upstream is now a profit of 1 billion US dollars above the far target," he said at the 'Launching Product Together with Warung Pangan' event. virtual, Thursday, September 16.

Erick said that the Ministry of SOEs would continue to transform state enterprises. The goal is to increase the efficiency and performance of the company in the future. The transformation carried out is to combine sub-holding companies by forming similar clusters.

In addition, Erick also claimed that the effort went well and according to plan. One example is that Petrochemical, which was previously a burden for the Ministry of SOEs due to its poor performance, is now able to bring in a profit of 332 million US dollars.

Erick said, the same condition also happened to PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) where the efficiency carried out was able to increase revenue by Rp. 23 trillion, an increase of 19 percent.

"PTPN's bottom line, which is predicted to lose Rp. 1.4 trillion, is now making a profit of Rp. 1.2 trillion, so this is real," he said.

In the future, said Erick, the transformation of SOEs must continue to be carried out. Including various efforts to reduce dependence on imports of raw materials or finished products need to be realized immediately.

"We must be able to balance the amount of domestic production and the amount of imports. Since the beginning I and the Minister of Trade have pushed for a new ecosystem," he said.
