Leak From Sri Mulyani: The Red And White Vaccine Will Be Produced Soon

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani emphasized that the government allocated up to Rp36 trillion for COVID-19 vaccine spending throughout 2022. This was conveyed by the Minister of Finance during a virtual press conference on our State Budget yesterday.

According to him, the fund is a budget for the procurement of free vaccines that will be distributed to the public.

"We will continue to encourage the achievement of herd immunity by using the state budget as expenditure which will later be distributed free of charge to the public," he said, Wednesday, August 25.

The Minister of Finance added that for next year the government seems to be running an independent vaccine program which was stopped this year. He also said that the move was related to the discourse on determining COVID-19 as an endemic and no longer a pandemic.

However, according to the Minister of Finance, the government will still consider the conditions that occurred at that time.

"The government hopes that the Red and White Vaccine will soon be produced and support the procurement of vaccines in the country," he said.

Meanwhile, the realization of the health budget this year as of July 31 has reached Rp 50.7 trillion. Of this figure, Rp. 11.7 trillion of which was used to procure 65.8 million doses of vaccine.

Meanwhile, another IDR 25.4 trillion was used to pay for the costs of COVID-19 patients at a number of referral hospitals.
