JAKARTA - PT KAI and KAI Commuter are said to be holding a random antigen test for one week starting today, Monday, June 21, 2021 at six stations with a high volume of KRL users, namely Bogor, Bekasi, Cikarang, Tangerang, Manggarai and Tanah Abang stations.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Anne Purba said this step was a follow-up to the trend of Covid-19 cases which in the last few days had increased in the Jakarta and surrounding areas.

"This random antigen test is carried out as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 because KRL is the favorite mode of transportation in the Jabodetabek area," he said in a press statement, Monday, June 21.

Anne added that users whose results were negative would be welcome to continue their journey by KRL. Meanwhile, users with positive results are not allowed to ride the KRL and their data is reported to the local task force.

"This random antigen test is carried out before users make transactions to buy tickets or tap to enter at the station's electronic gate," he said.

Furthermore, as the operator of mass transportation, KAI Commuter recommends that prospective passengers plan their trips well in order to avoid potential overcrowding at the station and on the train.

"In addition, prospective passengers are also expected not to force themselves to get on the train if they have met the quota," he said.

Anne also ensured that KAI Commuter employees and service officers had gradually received vaccinations from the government.

"This is important to keep those with high mobility and interaction able to work actively every day and continue to apply strict health protocols," he added.

For information, KAI reported that entering the third week of June 2021 there were 7,943,859 people or 441,326 people per day who used KRL services.

This figure grew 18.5 percent compared to the number of users until the third week of May which reached 6,467,395 people or 359,300 people per day.

"We also invite users to understand and always follow the health protocols that apply at stations and on KRL. If there is no urgent need, it is better to stay at home and not use KRL for the sake of public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic," concluded Anne.
