MEDAN - Perum Bulog North Sumatra Regional Office (Sumut) has distributed 21,643 tons of rice of the Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) type to a number of partners as an effort to maintain the availability of supplies and the stability of rice prices in the market.
The Head of the Bulog Regional Office for North Sumatra, Budi Cahyanto, said that the realization of the distribution had reached 44.13 percent of the target for the distribution of SPHP rice of 49,043 tons until December 2026.
"The distribution of SPHP rice was carried out in the period from March to June 2026," said Budi in Medan, North Sumatra, quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 5.
His party continues to increase the distribution of SPHP rice with partners as the price of rice in the market begins to rise due to not yet entering the harvest season.
According to him, the distribution of SPHP rice currently reaches 350-400 tons per day to all partners in North Sumatra, an increase compared to the usual day which ranges from 300 tons per day.
"With the supply of SPHP rice at these partners, it is hoped that rice prices will remain stable in the market," he said.
Budi ensured the availability of SPHP rice in the market in a safe condition, along with the increase in distribution to a number of partners.
He appealed to the public not to make excessive purchases, because Bulog continues to distribute SPHP rice gradually through the official retailer network.
In addition to maintaining supplies, Bulog North Sumatra ensures that the sale of SPHP rice still refers to the highest retail price (HET) of Rp. 13,100 per kilogram.
To expand the distribution range, Bulog North Sumatra also strengthened distribution through the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) program in cooperation with the Military District Command (Kodim) and the Regional Police (Polres) in various areas in North Sumatra.
