JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the latest development of the third phase of the People's School (SR) is now entering the auction process at a number of points.
He targeted that the construction of the stage could be completed by June 2027 at the latest so that it could be used for the new school year in July 2027.
This was conveyed by Dody in a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) related to People's Schools with the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 26.
Dody explained that the construction of Phase III SR was divided into three categories.
Phase IIIA has seven locations that have entered the auction process, while Phase IIIB consisting of 11 locations is still in the auction preparation phase,
The stage IIIC which covers 89 locations still requires fulfillment of readiness criteria, including the completion of land status and other supporting documents.
"We hope that the readiness criteria and land problems such as ownership status, land maturity, AMDAL and so on in 89 points of the IIIC phase can be immediately resolved with the local government, bridged by KSP and the Ministry of Home Affairs. So, the auction can be carried out immediately and the construction can be completed by June 2027 at the latest," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, May 27.
According to Dody, the completion of the construction of the third phase of the People's School is important so that students who are currently occupying the SR pilot in the 2025/2026 school year can move to the permanent building in the new school year in July 2027.
In addition to discussing the Phase III SR, the PU Ministry is also continuing to accelerate the construction of Phase II SR in 93 locations which are targeted to be completed by June 2026.
As of May 25, 2026, the physical progress of the Phase II SR construction was recorded at 62.63 percent with a financial progress of 41.76 percent.
To accelerate the work, the PU Ministry formed the SR Development Acceleration Task Force, adding manpower and implementing a three-shift work system in the field.
It is recorded that as of May 25, 2026, the construction of the SR has absorbed as many as 71,579 workers.
In addition, the PU Ministry also coordinates with Danantara and Himbara banks to help contractors who experience cash flow problems during project implementation.
In the meeting, it was also discussed to strengthen digital learning infrastructure through cooperation between the Ministry of PU, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Komdigi, including the provision of internet networks and fiber optic infrastructure at the location of the People's School Phase II.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf expressed his appreciation for the support of the Ministry of PU in accelerating the development of SR facilities and infrastructure.
"The PU Ministry has provided extraordinary support for the implementation of SR, especially in the provision of facilities and infrastructure. The challenges in the field are indeed big, but the PU Minister came down directly and continued to accelerate so that these facilities can be used for new school year learning," he said.
