JAKARTA - The government is designing an economic stimulus package for the second semester of 2026 which includes various programs, ranging from tax incentives for book writers, transportation cost reductions, to strengthening national internship and vocational programs.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the government would implement a final royalty income tax (PPh) incentive for writers of 1.5 percent.
He added that the policy is expected to reduce tax revenue by around IDR 12.5 billion to IDR 31.2 billion and is intended for around 16,600 to 41,500 writers.
According to Airlangga, this policy is one of the campaign promises of President Prabowo Subianto and will be realized soon.
"First of all, of course, related to taxation for writers, we have decided to provide tax incentives for writers to be given a final tax of 1.5 percent, because this is a campaign promise of the President, so this will be implemented immediately," he told the media, Tuesday, May 26.
In addition, the government has also prepared a transportation discount program for train, sea transport, and crossings during the school holidays. This program is estimated to require a budget of Rp. 190 billion with a target of 3,074,889 beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the government has prepared a budget of Rp. 472.7 billion for the air ticket discount program during the school holiday period with a target of around 2.3 million economy class passengers.
