JAKARTA - The Tanah Datar Regency Government (Pemkab) has prepared land of around 16 hectares which comes from community grants to support the construction of a People's School in Tanjung Alam, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province.
This was conveyed by the Regent of Tanah Datar Eka Putra when reviewing the location of the proposed construction of the People's School with the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo, Thursday, May 21.
"At first we had difficulty finding land, but there was a grant from the community, so the total land prepared reached about 16 hectares," said Eka Putra as quoted from an official statement, Friday, May 22.
Meanwhile, Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said the construction of the People's School in Tanah Datar requires the full support of the local government because the project is large-scale with land requirements reaching around 15 hectares.
"This school is quite large and is targeted to accommodate up to 3,000 students. Therefore, we need the support of the Regional Government and the Provincial Government, especially for land, permits and road access," he said.
Dody explained that PT Nindya Karya is currently maturing the land and opening access roads to the construction site.
"Work continues to be accelerated, but it also cannot be arbitrary. Because, this will be a high-rise building, so if it is arbitrary, it is feared that it will collapse. The soil condition must also be checked properly," he said.
Meanwhile, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi expressed his appreciation for the acceleration of the construction of the People's School in Tanah Datar which was considered strategic to improve the quality of education as well as reduce poverty in the region.
"This program is very strategic for education and poverty alleviation in our area. The Provincial Government and the Regency Government are ready to fully support," he said.
