JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) conveyed the government's commitment to accelerate the construction of a flyover or flyover to minimize the operation of a single-piece crossing.

AHY emphasized that this step is an advanced infrastructure solution to overcome the problem of congestion and reduce the number of accidents at the points of intersection of railway lines.

"The Mayor (of Bekasi) said that there was actually a plan before this incident, but it still needs a process. I ask and want to encourage to speed up everything," said AHY in an audio statement shared by the Humas Kemenko Infrastructure, Tuesday, April 28.

However, AHY admitted that the construction of the flyover was not easy.

Mature readiness is needed starting from space arrangement, land acquisition to the physical construction stage which takes time.

As for short-term handling, the Kemenko IPK ensures that every railway crossing point that still exists must have strict security and the management of guard officers consistently.

According to AHY, the accident incident at the intersection of the KRL with the Green SM Indonesia green taxi on Monday, April 27 evening, is a serious issue.

The reason is that it is suspected to have an impact on operational disruptions, leading to another accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the Cikarang Line KRL at East Bekasi Station.

"So, friends, I can conclude that last night's incident was not something light. This is something serious and the government wants to immediately accelerate all efforts to be able to avoid similar accidents," said AHY.

Previously, there was an accident on the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, West Java, Monday, April 27 night. As a result of the incident, 15 people died and 88 people are still being treated.
