JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed a misunderstanding of information regarding the plan to procure thousands of electric motorcycles with the logo of the National Nutrition Agency for the Head of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

Purbaya explained that he had previously received a report from his subordinates stating that the procurement plan had been rejected.

However, he continued, it was later found that some of the procurement proposals had received approval.

He said that there was a possibility of internal miscommunication, so that the information he received was not entirely accurate.

"Last year there was a miscommunication from my subordinates to me, as far as I remember, I asked if it had been rejected. But it turns out that some of them had managed to pass," he told the media, Thursday, April 9.

In addition, he also suspected that the procurement process could have been carried out before he served as Minister of Finance.

"Maybe it was also submitted before I became a minister, so I don't know," he said.

However, Purbaya ensured that this year there were no plans to procure electric motorcycles for the Head of the SPPG.

He emphasized that the future policy would not continue the program, although it still opened the possibility for evaluation in the future.

"But later we will see again in the future, but what is clear in the future there will be no more," he said.

Previously, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana, admitted that the program was indeed included in the 2025 plan and budget, but its realization was not entirely in accordance with the target.

Dadan said that of the target of 24,400 units, which was realized around 21,800 units. "Electric motorcycles are already in the 2025 plan, included in the 2025 budget," he said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 8.

Regarding the price, Dadan denied the figure of Rp58 million per unit that was widely discussed. He said the market price was around Rp52 million, while BGN bought in the range of Rp42 million per unit.

"The market price is 52 million, but we buy it if it's not wrong, 42 million below the market price," he said.

The electric motorcycle will be used for the operation of SPPG officers, especially in areas that are difficult to reach by four-wheeled vehicles. Dadan emphasized, its main function is to reach villages and remote areas that can only be reached by motorbikes.

"Yes, we will distribute it later for the operations of all people in SPPG, especially in difficult areas," he said.

He also denied the assumption that this purchase was not urgent. According to him, operational needs in the field were the main reason.

"This program reaches areas that will be very difficult. Reaching villages that can only be reached by motorcycle," said Dadan.

BGN ensures there is no additional purchase in the near future.

The procurement of electric motorcycles is only carried out for the 2025 budget needs and is not planned to continue in 2026.

"For the time being, we will just suffice for a while because this is the 2025 budget, 2026 there is no planning for purchases," said Dadan.
