JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) emphasized that the development of the Red and White Village / Village Cooperative would not be carried out on land that was in conflict. This followed the circulation of a narrative on social media that said the conflict in East Flores was caused by the development of the Red and White Village Cooperative.

"In every cooperative development program, the government will only use land with a clean and clear status, not in a state of dispute," said the Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperatives (Seskemenkop), Ahmad Zabadi to the media at the Ministry of Cooperatives Office, Wednesday, March 25.

He added, the Government will not and has never used problematic or conflict land for the development of this strategic program.

Ahmad also appealed to the public not to be provoked by incorrect information and not to associate conflicts with government programs without a clear basis.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the status of land free from disputes has become a provision in the data collection of physical development land assets of the Red and White Kopdes in accordance with the Circular of the Minister of Cooperatives Number 4 of 2025 concerning Data Collection of Land and/or Building Assets for the Acceleration of Physical Development of Red and White Village/Village Cooperative Shops, Warehouses, and Equipment.

For information, previously social media was filled with videos stating that the conflict in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara was caused by the development of the Red and White Village Cooperative.

Ahmad ensured that the recent conflict between residents of Waiburak Village and Narasaosina Village, East Flores Regency, had nothing to do with the physical development of the Red and White Village Cooperative. The clash occurred due to the dispute over ownership of customary land rights which has been going on for a very long time and has been passed down from generation to generation.

"On this occasion we want to clarify that the conflict between the two villages is not related to the construction of the Kopdes Merah Putih. This is an old conflict between Waiburak Village and Narasaosina Village which is triggered by a hereditary ulayat land dispute," said Ahmad.

He said the Ministry of Home Affairs had coordinated with the NTT Provincial Government to obtain the actual information related to the clashes in the two villages.

He explained that the Provincial Government together with Forkopimda had directly intervened to handle and coordinate. The current situation has begun to recover and calm down and mediation is being carried out between the two parties in conflict through approaches with community leaders and local governments.

Attending online, the Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Cooperative and SME Service, Linus Lusi, emphasized that the conflict in the two villages was not related to the Red and White Kopdes. The conflict is an old conflict that has occurred repeatedly and has been passed down from generation to generation.

"We have immediately investigated to get information from community leaders and there is no statement related to the Red and White Kopdes, this is purely a land issue," said Linus Lusi.

Linus Lusi added that the resolution of the problem, is being carried out through the mediation process and law enforcement.
