JAKARTA - The Garuda Indonesia Group has prepared at least 1.3 million airline seats to anticipate the surge in community mobility during the peak season for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
The capacity is provided for travel periods from March 14 to 29, 2026.
Of the total capacity, 616,000 seats were prepared by Garuda Indonesia and 742,000 seats by its subsidiary, Citilink Indonesia.
All of this capacity is supported by 7,634 flight frequencies, consisting of 3,325 Garuda Indonesia flights and 4,309 Citilink flights.
As a proactive step against the potential for high demand, the Garuda Indonesia Group also plans 449 additional flights or extra flights.
The details consist of 146 additional Garuda Indonesia flights and 303 additional Citilink flights.
The company projects that a number of domestic routes will experience high demand during the Lebaran period, including Jakarta-Padang, Jakarta-Medan, Jakarta-Balikpapan, Jakarta-Pekanbaru, and Jakarta-Jambi. Meanwhile, for international routes, it is estimated to increase on the Jakarta-Singapore route, Jakarta-Jeddah, Jakarta-Medinah, and Denpasar-Narita (Tokyo).
Garuda Indonesia also projects that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on March 18, 2026, while the peak of the return flow is estimated to take place on March 24, 2026.
Garuda Indonesia Operations Director Dani Haikal Iriawan said the readiness of the flight capacity was part of the company's commitment to ensuring the smooth mobility of the community during the Lebaran holiday period.
"The momentum of Eid al-Fitr is the most awaited period for people to reunite with their families or go on vacation. Therefore, we ensure that flight service readiness can be optimally met throughout the Lebaran peak season," said Dani in an official statement, Thursday, March 12.
Operational readiness is also supported by 101 aircraft fleets consisting of 60 Garuda Indonesia fleets and 41 Citilink fleets.
Garuda Indonesia's fleet includes six Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, 11 Airbus A330 Series, and 43 Boeing 737-800NG.
Meanwhile, Citilink's fleet consists of 39 Airbus A320s and two ATR 72-600s.
In addition to fleet readiness, the Garuda Indonesia Group also ensures the readiness of flight crew, operational systems, and customer service during the Lebaran transportation period.
The company also activated the Lebaran Post at a number of major hubs and involved employees through an operational picket program during the peak season.
To anticipate the surge in demand during the Lebaran holiday, the Garuda Indonesia Group also strengthened its operational and service readiness in general.
The steps include ensuring the readiness of the crew, maintaining fleet safety through periodic maintenance, implementing service standards and mitigating irregularities, to ensuring the readiness of the system infrastructure and ground handling services.
On the other hand, the ease of purchasing tickets is also supported through the implementation of government stimulus policies in the form of discounts on domestic economy class flight tickets that have been in effect since February 10, 2026 for the flight period of March 14 to 29, 2026.
The stimulus comes from a combination of the Government-Underwritten VAT (PPN DTP) policy of up to 100 percent, adjustments to the Passenger Service Charge (PSC), and fuel surcharge.
The policy is projected to provide a ticket discount in the range of 13 to 18 percent.
Dani added that the determination of Garuda Indonesia ticket prices still refers to government regulations regarding the Upper Limit Tariff (TBA) set by regulators.
"We hope that this Eid transportation readiness can help people plan their trip better while presenting a safe, comfortable, and timely flying experience," concluded Dani.
