The Ministry of Transportation Arranges Ferry Operations During Nyepi, Crossings to Bali Temporarily Stopped

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has set operational arrangements for crossing transportation during the New Year's Day Celebration of Saka 1948 in 2026.

This policy was taken to respect the implementation of Nyepi while maintaining the smoothness of community mobility because the time is close to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

The regulation is contained in the Joint Decree (SKB) Number: KP-DRJD 854 Year 2026, Number: HK.201/1/21DJPL/2026, Number: 20/KPTS/Db/2026, and Number: Kep/43/II/2026 dated February 5, 2026 regarding the Regulation of Road Traffic and Crossing During the Period of the Homecoming and Balik Balik Transportation during the 2026/1447 Hijriah.

The SKB was signed by the Directorate General of Land Transportation and the Directorate General of Maritime Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, the National Police Kakorlantas, and the Directorate General of Road Construction of the Ministry of Public Works.

Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that crossing services to and from Bali will be temporarily suspended during the Nyepi period.

"In connection with Nyepi Day, crossing services to and from Bali will be temporarily closed. This step is taken to respect the implementation of Nyepi Day and ensure that crossing arrangements remain under control because it is also time to be close to Lebaran," Aan said in an official statement, Monday, March 2.

Aan said that the closure of operations was imposed on the Ketapang Port-Gilimanuk Port and Padang Bai Port-Lembar Port crossings.

All services on the crossing will be temporarily suspended according to the schedule that has been set and will resume operations after the Nyepi period ends.

The schedule for temporary closure is as follows:

Ketapang Port: Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 17.00 to Friday, March 20, 2026 at 06.00 local time. Gilimanuk Port: Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 05.00 to Friday, March 20, 2026 at 06.00 local time. Lembar Port: Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 21.00 to Friday, March 20, 2026 at 01.30 local time. Padang Bai Port: Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 04.00 to Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11.30 local time.

Aan appealed to the public who would travel through the crossing to adjust the departure schedule and monitor official information from the Directorate General of Land Transportation and local operators.

"We urge the public to comply with the arrangements we have set. For people who will travel to or from Bali to arrange their travel plans well and adjust the departure schedule so that they are not affected by the closure of cross-over transportation operations," he concluded.
