JAKARTA - Train ticket sales during the 2026 Lebaran Transportation continue to show a positive trend.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that as of February 9, 2026 at 10.00 WIB, a total of 793,681 regular train tickets had been booked for the departure period of March 11-26, 2026.
The booking was made through the H-45 gradual sales scheme implemented by KAI to give people the opportunity to plan their homecoming and Eid holidays early.
This scheme is also intended to manage passenger flows so that they are not concentrated on certain dates, both during the homecoming and return flows.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said ticket sales would continue to increase as soon as reservations opened according to the schedule that had been set.
"Through this arrangement, customers can adjust their travel time more freely, while helping to distribute the homecoming flow so that it is not concentrated on a certain date," Anne said in an official statement, Monday, February 9.
Based on provisional data, the departure date with the highest booking volume fell on March 24, 2026 with 67,859 tickets. Next, March 23, 2026 with 67,043 tickets, March 19, 2026 with 65,513 tickets, and March 18, 2026 with 63,300 tickets.
In terms of relationships, the favorite routes are still dominated by trips to and from major cities on the island of Java.
The Gambir-Yogyakarta relationship is the most sought after with 11,567 customers, followed by Gambir-Semarang Tawang 10,143 customers, Pasarsenen-Lempuyangan 8,211 customers, and Gambir-Purwokerto 7,387 customers.
Other relations that are also widely chosen include Pasarsenen-Kutoarjo, Pasarsenen-Surabaya Pasar Turi, Pasarsenen-Purwokerto, Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi, Gambir-Cirebon, and Yogyakarta-Gambir.
As public interest increases, KAI is preparing various operational steps to support the smooth running of the 2026 Eid Transportation.
The plan for additional train operations is currently in the finalization stage and will be announced according to operational readiness.
In terms of facilities, locomotive and train inspection is carried out periodically to ensure that all services run optimally during the homecoming and return period.
Meanwhile, the ticketing system is run transparently and controlled with the provision of one identity for one passenger.
The boarding process is also supported by the use of face recognition technology and transaction restrictions per booking code so that tickets are used by eligible customers.
For group reservations, KAI limits the maximum allocation to 10 percent of the total seating capacity, with priority given to free homecoming programs organized by the government and related agencies.
"We are trying to keep the Lebaran homecoming journey orderly, safe, and comfortable. With early planning, people can enjoy the 2026 Lebaran journey with the train more calmly," concluded Anne.
