Tesla Shares Rise 4 Percent, Elon Musk's Wealth Reaches IDR 13.400 Trillion

JAKARTA - The wealth of Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has set a new record high after soaring above US$ 788.1 billion or equivalent to around Rp. 13,406 trillion.

As reported by Forbes, this surge occurred along with the increase in Tesla's share price following Musk's statement regarding the expansion plan for robotaxi services in the United States by the end of the year.

Musk's net worth was recorded at around US$ 788.1 billion after Tesla shares strengthened by more than 4%, pushing its value beyond the previous record of around US$ 780 billion. Assuming the rupiah exchange rate of around Rp. 16,986 per US dollar, the value is equivalent to around Rp. 13,406 trillion.

Musk, who attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, said Tesla's robotaxi fleet would begin operating widely across the United States by the end of this year after an initial launch in Austin, Texas, in June 2025. The positive market response to the statement pushed Tesla's shares to levels above US$449 per share.

The rise in Tesla's share price further cemented Musk's position as the richest person in the world.

He is far ahead of Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who have a fortune of around US$ 270.4 billion and US$ 249.5 billion, or equivalent to around Rp. 4.594 trillion and Rp. 4.241 trillion.

Investor attention will then turn to Tesla's fourth-quarter 2025 financial report, which is scheduled to be released on January 28. In that period, Tesla recorded production of more than 434,000 vehicles with shipments of around 418,000 units, down around 16% compared to the same period last year.

This decline makes Tesla overtaken by Chinese automaker BYD as the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer.

Throughout the past year, Musk's wealth has scored a number of important milestones. In October, he became the first person with a fortune of more than US$ 500 billion, then broke through US$ 600 billion in December and reached US$ 700 billion in just a few days.

The surge was also driven by an increase in SpaceX's valuation to around US$800 billion.

His wealth was also boosted by the development of xAI Holdings, his artificial intelligence company, which recorded a significant valuation spike after obtaining large funding.

In the future, Musk's wealth still has the opportunity to set a new record if Tesla's compensation package approved last November is fully realized. The package has the potential to be worth up to US$ 1 trillion, provided the company is able to meet the production and financial performance targets it has set.
