JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter is still waiting for instructions regarding the operation of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in North Jakarta. The new station is projected to serve the Jakarta City-Tanjung Priok route.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda said that in terms of the readiness of supporting facilities for station operations, in principle, it has been fulfilled.

However, the certainty of the operating time is still waiting for further assignment from PT KAI (Persero) as the parent company, as well as the government represented by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

"The principle for the JIS Station, KCI has prepared supporting facilities for operational readiness. So now we are just waiting for further directions and assignments when it will start operating," Karina said in a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, December 19.

For information, the JIS Station is a KRL station development project designed to connect the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) with the public transportation network.

Construction began in 2023 and was initially targeted to be temporarily operational by the end of 2023, then back to April 2024. However, until 2024 to 2025, the progress has not shown full completion.

In early December, Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi targeted the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station to be operational this month. He said the operation was pursued in December 2025.

"(Before Nataru) we tried (to open). I'm chasing the JIS Station. The promise is December (open)," said Dudy at a media briefing, in Jakarta, Friday, December 5.

Meanwhile, earlier, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi said that the construction of the station was still being worked on. He also admitted that he had asked PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI to complete it in the near future.

"I ask for confirmation again (with KAI), my hope is that maybe one or two months this can be completed," he said in a media briefing, in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 30.

Dudy said that during this time, when there are events or activities taking place at the JIS stadium, visitors have difficulty accessing public transportation services.

Furthermore, Dudy hopes that the existence of the station can encourage public access to public transportation services around the stadium.

"Because usually at the end of the year there are many events taking place in the Ancol area and its surroundings," he explained.
