JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is collaborating with universities to support the implementation of the construction of the Merah Putih Fisherman Village (KNMP) next year.
Hundreds of Surveyors from a number of campuses led by IPB University will conduct surveys to coastal villages of Indonesia.
Chairman of the KNMP Implementation Coordinator Trian Yunanda explained that the initial stage of the program requires a comprehensive mapping involving various universities.
"This is a phase I identification model that will be supported by universities. Surveyers from a number of universities will conduct surveys at prospective KNMP locations," Trian said in a written statement, Tuesday, December 9.
The surveyor release event took place at IPB University on December 8. There are 560 surveyors who will collect data from coastal villages in 97 regencies/cities of Indonesia.
The data collection is targeted to be completed by the end of 2025.
Trian said that the involvement of surveyors from a number of universities to accelerate the implementation of KNMP development is targeted to target 1,000 locations by 2026.
The survey results data will be ready to be used to support the determination of the location and model of the KNMP business cluster which will be implemented in each location.
The implementation of the KNMP development in 2026 itself carries the concept of a cluster system, consisting of hub areas, logistics centers and buffer villages.
"After this preparation process, we will carry out construction for six months, in addition, we are also preparing a mentoring and empowerment phase," he said.
"So with KNMP, the government not only prepares facilities, but we prepare the fishing community. We prepare downstream upstream," he continued.
