Danantara Boss Says 52 Percent Of 1,060 SOEs Experience Losses

JAKARTA - The Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) revealed that out of a total of 1,060 companies in the BUMN ecosystem, 52 percent of them actually lost money.

Danantara's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Patria Sjahrir said that even that number, had gone through the process of improving the report, aka being beautified.

"Those who lose a minimum of 52 percent, lose. So it has also been beautified," he said in South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 19.

Pandu also revealed that the state's dividend sources are currently still very concentrated in a handful of SOEs. Of the more than a thousand companies, dividends are almost entirely contributed by only eight companies.

"Of the 1,060 companies under Danantara, only 95 percent of the dividends came from 8. Less than 1 percent," said Pandu.

To improve the performance of companies that are losing money, Danantara has started consolidating SOEs with similar business lines. The approach is to combine many entities into more efficient and competitive companies.

"For example, asset management, we will change it from 8 to 1, it will become the largest asset management in Indonesia, and which can compete on a regional scale. We will do that later. This is an example, a hospital in healthcare. We have a lot of hospitals during Pertamina," he said.

Throughout 2024, the Ministry of SOEs reported dividend payments for the state reaching Rp85.5 trillion, originating from the performance of SOEs in 2023. The following is a list of 10 BUMN largest dividend contributors:

1. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI: IDR 25.7 trillion

2. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk or Mandiri: IDR 17.1 trillion

3. MIND ID mining SOE Holding: IDR 11.2 trillion

4. PT Pertamina (Persero): IDR 9.3 trillion

5. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk: IDR 9.2 trillion

6. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI: IDR 6.2 trillion

7. PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN: IDR 3 trillion

8. PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero): IDR 1.2 trillion

9. PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo: IDR 1 trillion

10. PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk or BTN: IDR 420 billion.
