Minister Nusron Wahid: As Long As ATR/BPN Employees Don't Want To Concave, Land Mafia Will Definitely Escape

JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid assessed that the main key to the fight against the land mafia is not only law enforcement, but rather the moral determination of the apparatus not to be invited to conspire or collusion.

According to him, all digitalization efforts, improving governance and strengthening regulations will be in vain if there is still a compromise gap within the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

"As long as the ranks of BPN do not want to be invited to collude, the land mafia will definitely run away. They can only move if there is a door that is opened from within. If we close the gap meeting, they will disperse it by themselves," said Nusron in a written statement, quoted Monday, November 17.

The Golkar Party politician assessed that the practice of crime will always seek loopholes in various forms, anywhere and in any era. His statement about 'Until the end of the world is less than two days the mafia remains' is not a form of pessimism, but the philosophical awareness of every modern country is always faced with two forces, namely they maintain order and those who try to destroy it.

Therefore, Nusron emphasized that the main strategy is not only to pursue the perpetrators, but to strengthen the main bulwark of the country through the integrity of the ATR/BPN Ministry apparatus.

"We eradicate them, they will reappear in different forms. What changes is only the model, not the evil intention. The most effective way to deal with the land mafia is to ensure that BPN people are strong, proper and firmly enforce the rules," he stressed.

He added that the professionalism of apparatus, administrative discipline and full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are the foundations for closing the entire game space of the land mafia.

"As long as officials and employees do not want to be invited to collusion, the mafia will not be able to enter. No matter how hard they move, if we are not tempted, they (the land mafia) will fail," explained Nusron.

Furthermore, said Nusron, the state will always be present in every land issue and ensure that the entire case settlement process runs objectively, transparently and according to the law.

"For this reason, we convey the message that clearing Indonesia's land starts from the determination of the internal integrity of ATR/BPN," he concluded.
