JAKARTA - The creative industry is now one of the main pillars in strengthening the national economic structure.
In addition to contributing to economic growth, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the sector also played a major role in creating jobs, fostering innovation and strengthening the nation's identity.
"Doers of the domestic creative industry must be able to produce various innovative and competitive products. Moreover, Indonesia has great market potential and is supported by skilled human resources, so it is believed that it can be competitive to the global arena," Agus said in a written statement, quoted Monday, November 3.
Agus ensured that the government continues to strive to strengthen the creative industry ecosystem through human resources, improve educational facilities and vocational training and collaborate with various international partners.
"We want Indonesia to become the center of the creative economy based on superior and global competitive talents," he said.
In line with the direction of the Minister of Industry, the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi, said that the development of human resources is a key factor in strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry.
"Therefore, the Ministry of Industry places the development of competent human resources as the main foundation for national industrial development," he said.
Doddy explained that the Ministry of Industry has strengthened vocational education and training programs through 13 vocational universities, nine SMKs and seven Industrial Education and Training Centers (BDI).
All these educational and training institutions, he said, are the pioneers in implementing the link and match concept between the world of education and the world of industry, as well as being proven to produce ready-to-work graduates.
One of the steps taken by the Ministry of Industry in strengthening human resources in the creative industry is the implementation of a program to increase the capacity of the international creative economy at BDI Denpasar, Bali, on October 26-1 November 2025.
The program is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, the Organization of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and the International Development Cooperation Fund (LDKPI).
Meanwhile, the Head of the BPSDMI Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Industry, Sidik Herman, explained that the training was an opportunity to share the best knowledge, experience and practices in the creative economy.
"The participants of this training amounted to 60 participants from the African, Caribbean and Pacific regions, with the background of policymakers, administrators or regulators in the creative economy sector," explained Sidik.
"Hopefully, every participant can have a significant impact on the development of the creative industry in their respective countries," he concluded.
