PGN Successfully Relocate Gas Pipes On Jalan Gorowong Karawang Faster, Services To Customers Stay Safe

JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) through Sales Operation Region II (SOR II) has successfully completed the relocation of the natural gas pipeline network with a diameter of 16 inch on Jalan Gorowong, East Karawang District, faster than the target time, safe, and without interference with natural gas services to household customers.

This relocation is part of PGN's support for the construction of the Gorowong Underpass, a strategic project of the Karawang Regency Government which aims to unravel congestion and improve connectivity between regions. The underground gas pipeline affected by the project was transferred with precision technical calculations to maintain safety and continuity of energy supply.

"We managed to complete the work within 60 hours, ahead of the planned 80-hour estimate, and smoothly without incident. All stages are carried out with careful planning, strict supervision, and solid coordination between agencies," said Wuriana Irawati, Area Head of PGN Karawang, on Wednesday, October 22.

During the work, natural gas flows to household customers remain safe and undisturbed. PGN ensures that all anticipatory measures run effectively thanks to strong technical support, good communication, and a strict monitoring system in the field.

Customers in project-affected areas that continue to receive normal gas supply include 9,559 household customers (RT) and 7 Small Customers (PK/UMKM). To maintain the reliability of supply, PGN prepared a CNG back-up system (Compressed Natural Gas) supplied by PT Gagas Energi Indonesia using GTM (Gas Transport Module) with a capacity of 10 Ft. @800 m3. During a 60 80 hours long work, the need for back-up gas is equivalent to approximately 10,000 m3, ensuring the supply remains stable for all RTPK customers.

"We want customers to feel safe and comfortable. Even though there is a big development around them, PGN ensures that gas services continue to run normally. This is a form of our responsibility as national energy providers," added Wuriana.

Prior to the implementation of the work, PGN conducted direct socialization to affected customers to explain the schedule, duration, and anticipatory steps during the relocation process. PGN also conducts daily monitoring (daily update) on the progress of work to ensure transparency, efficiency, and safety of work are maintained.

The entire process is carried out with the highest HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) standards. The PGN technical team is alerted 24 hours fully during the work to ensure there is no potential for disruption or leakage of the gas network.

The success of resolving this relocation is the result of cross-function collaboration and collaboration within Pertamina Gas Subholding. Field work involves close synergy between the OMM Division and the SOR II PGN Team (Area Karawang, RSCM, ROGM, and RSS), with full support from PT PGAS Solution and PT Gagas Energi Indonesia.
