JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that the government is accelerating the construction of Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP) and intensifying Solar Power Plants (PLTS).
"The government has inaugurated dozens of renewable energy plants, accelerating the PLTS project with a capacity of 100 gigawatts (GW)," Bahlil said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, October 22.
Throughout 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has inaugurated two power generation projects by President Prabowo.
First on January 20, 2025, President Prabowo and Bahlil inaugurated 26 power plants with a total capacity of 3.2 GW. Of the total power plant capacity, 89 percent are EBT-based generators.
Then on June 26, 2025, 55 power plants were inaugurated, with details of 8 Geothermal PLT and the rest were PLTS spread across 15 provinces. The total capacity of the power plant that was inaugurated was 379.7 megawatts (MW).
"The government also continues to strengthen the synergy between the central government, regional, private sector, and rural communities in expanding access to clean energy," Bahlil explained.
In some rural areas, he continued, the construction of communal PLTS has now changed the face of the local economy, reduced energy costs, as well as created new jobs.

"The government involves village cooperatives in the energy transition. Economy and Ecology do not have to be contested, both of them synergize in creating sustainable, inclusive, and equitable development foundations," continued Bahlil.
Bahlil also said that by 2030 the national EBT mix target had been revised to 1923 percent. This target is contained in Government Regulation (PP) Number 40 of 2025 concerning National Energy Policy (KEN).
Through this policy, the government emphasized concrete steps to accelerate the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy.
"This effort is not only aimed at reducing carbon emissions, but also strengthening national energy resilience amid global challenges and world energy market fluctuations," said Bahlil.
