Gen Z Invited To Take A Strategic Role In The Transmigration Program

JAKARTA - Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara invites the younger generation, especially Gen Z, to take a strategic role in the transmigration program to encourage equitable development and strengthen national economic growth.

"How Gen Z and other generations can contribute, can participate in national economic development through the transmigration program," Iftitah said, quoting Antara.

The Ministry of Transmigration held an Open House event or public aspiration channel through live broadcasts of social and out-of-network media as a means of reintroducing the value and strategic role of transmigration in national economic development to the community, including the younger generation and Gen Z circles.

Iftitah emphasized that the activity was held to strengthen closeness with the community so that they understand the meaning and real benefits of the transmigration program for equitable development and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people.

He said the saying 'don't know, so I don't care' is the basis for the spirit of the activity, because the more people get to know transmigration, the greater the sense of belonging and support for the program.

According to him, the younger generation today, especially Gen Z, who was born after 1999, does not know much about the history or contribution of transmigration, which during the New Order era was a leading government program.

Through this activity, he said the ministry was trying to bring back the history and success stories of transmigration by presenting former ministers, including the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia (2016-2019) Eko Putro Sandjojo, to share views and experiences in building transmigration areas.

He also emphasized that this was a momentum to show the transformation of the transmigration program in the era of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka who carried the vision of inclusive development.

"The flagship programs that are now being run include Traffic Transmigration, Local Transmigration, Patriot Transmigration, Transmigration Karya Nusantara, and Transmigration Gotong Royong, all of which are directed to strengthen regional economic independence," he said, explaining.

He invited the younger generation to contribute to national economic development through a transmigration program, by becoming part of the transformation towards equitable development and welfare throughout Indonesia.

He added that this was also a reflection momentum ahead of the one-year Prabowo-Gibran administration, as an opportunity to assess achievements, evaluate deficiencies, and design improvement measures for the sake of better public services.

Open House 24 Hours will be held on Saturday (18/10), 08.00 WIB to Sunday (19/10), at 08.00 WIB, at the Ministry of Transmigration Office, South Jakarta.

The activity was held for a full 24 hours, anyone can attend both offline and online, to ask directly, provide input, deliver criticism, or even offer the idea of changing in the transmigration sector.
