JAKARTA - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi) recorded significant achievements in the Gas Fuel Optimization Program with the operation mode of the Waste Heat Boiler (WHB) unit managed to reduce 19,000 tCOe per year in the Grissik field, Corridor Block, South Sumatra.

Director & Chief Operating Officer of MedcoEnergi Ronald Gunawan explained, WHB is a facility that utilizes heat from the exhaust gas of the production process to produce steam, so that the process becomes more efficient and environmentally friendly.

"This optimization is able to reduce exhaust emissions by around 19,000 tCO2e per year," he said, Monday, October 13.

He added that at the Natuna Offshore field, MedcoEnergi also optimized operating mode at the Terubuk-Belida facility by flowing production without using a compressor, thereby reducing exhaust emissions by around 24,000 tCO2e per year.

For Onshore assets, optimization is carried out through the application of electrification, namely conversion of electricity supply from gas-fueled generators to PLN's clean power grid, as well as optimization of operating modes.

"Efficiency in the use of fuel gas and emission reduction is not just a technical target, but is part of MedcoEnergi's long-term sustainability roadmap," he continued.

Sejak 2022, secara kumulatif Medco berhasil menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar gas sekitar 18 MMscfd.
