The Minister Of Transportation And The Governor Of West Java Agreed To Develop Transportation, Focus On Reactivation Of Trains

JAKARTA - The central government and the West Java Provincial Government have agreed to accelerate the development of the transportation system in West Java. One of the priorities is the reactivation of several railway lines.

The agreement was confirmed by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and the Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi at Pakuan Building, Bandung, Friday, October 10.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the signing of this memorandum of understanding was a strategic step in strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation, the Provincial Government of West Java, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI.

"We want to accelerate the development of an efficient, sustainable, and real benefits railway system for the community, especially in West Java," he said in an official statement, Friday, October 10.

Dudy said that several routes that will be reactivated, one of which is the Padalarang-Cicalengka route. Not only being reactivated, this route will also be electrified so that the operation is more environmentally friendly.

Furthermore, Dudy said another route that will also be reactivated is Cianjur-Sukabumi-Bogor. He hopes that this reactivation project can be completed by early 2027.

"Hopefully, hopefully this agreement can strengthen connectivity and improve transportation services for the community and improve the economy in the West Java region," he said.

In addition, Dudy also discussed the optimization of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati for Hajj and Umrah flights, to dialogue with business actors and organizers of Hajj and Umrah travel throughout West Java.

According to Dudy, this dialogue is important to strengthen synergy in providing the best service for pilgrims who are leaving for Hajj and Umrah.

"The airport will function optimally if there are sustainable movements, regular flights, and support from the Regional Government, airport managers, airlines, and travelers," he said.

According to Dudy, with good synergy from all parties, Kertajati Airport is expected to be a gateway for the people of West Java who will go to the holy land.

Dudy also appreciated Governor Dedi and his staff, PT KAI, the directors of BUMN and BUMD, as well as all business actors who have played an active role in realizing this collaboration.

He also hopes that this step will be an important milestone towards the increasingly advanced, reliable, and competitive West Java transportation system.

"Hopefully this meeting will not be just ceremonial, but will become phenomenal," he said.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi expressed his commitment to developing a transportation system in West Java, one of which is through the reactivation of several train lines and optimizing BIJB Kertajati. He also hopes that transportation in West Java can be connected in all modes.

"We have high hopes that land transportation routes in West Java will develop well. So that West Java will experience economic growth in the agriculture, plantation, and tourism industries. We also hope that Kertajati Airport will become the center of Hajj and Umrah flight activities," he said.
