JAKARTA - The central government and the West Java Provincial Government have agreed to accelerate the development of the transportation system in West Java. One of the priorities is the reactivation of several railway lines.

The agreement was confirmed by signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi and the Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi at Pakuan Building, Bandung, Friday, October 10.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the signing of this memorandum of understanding was a strategic step in strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation, the Provincial Government of West Java, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI.

"We want to accelerate the development of an efficient, sustainable, and real benefits railway system for the community, especially in West Java," he said in an official statement, Friday, October 10.

Dudy said that several routes that will be reactivated, one of which is the Padalarang-Cicalengka route. Not only being reactivated, this route will also be electrified so that the operation is more environmentally friendly.
