JAKARTA - The number of passengers on the "commuter line" or Electric Rail Train (KRL) Solo-Yogyakarta route decreased during Ramadan and Lebaran 2021, making it a positive trend amidst restrictions on community activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Hopefully this becomes a positive trend of people who consciously follow the direction of the government to not much mobility or just for urgent purposes only during the homecoming," said KAI Commuter External Relations Manager Adly Hakim, as quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

He said that judging from the average number of passengers, this May is decreasing when compared to April 2021. Based on the data, for the average number of passengers per day in April as many as 6,000 Electric Rail Train (KRL) users, while in May decreased to 3,700 passengers/day.

In fact, he said, in this fasting month the number of users decreases when compared to before entering Ramadan. On weekdays for Solo-Jogja Electric Rail Train (KRL) the number of passengers in the range of 7,000 users/day.

"If on holidays can be above 10,000 users/day, but in the month of Ramadan the trend is decreasing, people are not very active," he said.

He said that although the Eid holiday for the number of passengers also still shows a downward trend, namely as many as 2,000 users on Eid al-Fitr or May 13, 2021. This number shows a slight increase on the second day of Eid which is 3,500 users and the third day of Eid or Saturday, May 15 again increased to the number of 6,200 users.

"This Saturday has started to have mobility, but it is still below average before the fasting month," he said.

Meanwhile, although the number of users decreased, he said, during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr there was no change in the travel schedule of Electric Rail Train (KRL) or Prambanan Express Train (Prameks). He said that for Solo-Jogja KRL still serves as many as 20 trips/day and eight Prameks train trips.

"After the Eid holiday is also the same, the operating hours are also in accordance with the applicable rules, the frequency from the beginning of May until after the completion of the homecoming restriction period is the same," he said.
