JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the progress of the construction of the Phase II Cirebon Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline (CISEM) has reached 86.1 percent. This project is targeted for completion in March 2026.
"Currently, the physical progress is actually at 86.1 percent. This achievement can be said to be aheadya from the original plan of 84.8 percent. So 1.3 percent faster than the original plan targeted. We are also optimistic that CISEM Phase 2 will be completed according to the last contract in March 2026," said the Coordinator of Development Planning of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas), Sugiarto, Monday, September 29.
Sugiarto explained, as one of the national strategic projects, the CISEM Gas Pipe was designed to distribute gas from East Java to West Java to support energy security and reduce distribution costs.
He continued, with various efforts being carried out, Phase II CISEM Gas Pipes are expected to be the backbone of the national gas distribution which not only strengthens the availability of energy, but also reduces transportation costs and presents more competitive gas prices for the community and business actors.
"In addition, the existence of this pipeline is expected to spur industrial growth, expand the city's gas network, reduce dependence on LPG, and strengthen Indonesia's energy security for the future," he explained.
