Menkop Targets Kopdes To Return To Their Golden Age

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop) Ferry Juliantono emphasized that the current existence of cooperatives must return to its historical beginning. Where it is able and successful to develop various business sectors, such as production, distribution, industry, and credit.

"The Dekopin Cooperative Movement was born to strong cooperative parents in these business sectors. We have to return that golden age," said the Coordinating Minister in a statement to the media, Wednesday, September 24.

Therefore, Ferry explained, the strategic idea of the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes/Kel) initiated by President Prabowo Subianto was to catch up with cooperatives from other business entities such as SOEs and the private sector.

"So, in my opinion, the formation and operation of 80 thousand Red and White Kopdes is not just a government program. This is a State Movement in building and improving cooperative performance in Indonesia," said the Coordinating Minister.

In fact, in this second stage (operationalization), the Coordinating Minister said, the government had implemented many rules to launch and facilitate the steps of the Red and White Kopdes in October 2025.

One of them is the latest revised Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) which appoints Himbara banks to be able to channel capital for the Red and White Kopdes as the initial operational stage.

"Himbara already has a manual book on how to disburse funds for the operations of the Red and White Kopdes. In fact, it has socialized the procedures for making a loan ceiling disbursement proposal," explained Ferry.

In addition, Ferry emphasized the importance of the role of cooperation between cooperatives can also be an important key. More advanced cooperatives can act as offtakers, aggregators, as well as consolidators for the growing Red and White Kopdes.

"Thus, creating a mutually strengthening business ecosystem from upstream to downstream, and providing greater added value for members and the village community," said Ferry.

Ferry also hopes that Dekopin will support the Red and White Kopdes as the nation's movement by building a strong, inclusive, and competitive cooperative.

"Also, as well as playing a role in increasing the capacity of human resources through education, training, and assistance in order to realize professional and accountable cooperative governance," said Ferry.
