JAKARTA - President Director of PT Timah Tbk (TINS) Restu Widiyantoro revealed that currently his company has not been able to carry out mining activities in several areas. This then causes the company's production achievements to continue to fall from year to year.
Restu admitted that PT Timah needed support from the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding the acceleration of regulations to boost company production. He gave an example of Oliver's marine mine, which is located in the Belitung Sea, which cannot be mined because of licensing that has stalled for 1.5 years.
"In the Belitung area, one of them is Oliver waters. At Oliver, we have planned from almost two years ago, but administrative matters have so far we still need a year and a half to get permission," said Restu quoted Tuesday, 23 Feruari.
In fact, he said, the management of permits has been greatly assisted by many ministries/agencies but still finds many obstacles in the permit processing process.
"Just for administrative management, for example in one location, one and a half years we still need to face, visit offices in Jakarta to get that permit. That's just for administration," he continued.
Not only administration, according to him, PT Timah also still needs a lot of time for 1 to 2 years to prepare for mining activities.
"Preparing for mining activities is also approximately still needed between one and two years until mining activities can start," he explained.
In fact, based on data from PT Timah, Oliver's marine mine has a potential resource of 38,900 tons of tin.
