LPS Financial Festival Encourages Financial Literacy Improvement

JAKARTA - The LPS Financial Festival which will be held in Medan City, 20-21 August 2025 is expected to have an impact on increasing public understanding of financial literacy, especially young people.

Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners, Purbaya Yudhi Sadivewa said, Medan City was chosen as the city that organizes the LPS Financial Fest this time because it is one of the largest economic centers outside Java Island, as well as one of the economic gateways in the western region of Indonesia.

"With such great economic potential, we think, the people, including the younger generation, must also be equipped with good financial literacy. With better financial literacy, people will be better prepared to take advantage of opportunities that can strengthen regional economic competitiveness," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 22.

For economic growth in North Sumatra Province itself, he said, especially for aspects of household consumption and exports, it shows relatively stronger performance than the national one.

North Sumatra is also considered rich in plantation products such as palm oil, rubber, and coffee. In addition, the great potential for the tourism sector is like Lake Toba, which is already known to the world.

If this potential is driven by the right strategy, then not only North Sumatra will benefit, but also the overall national economy.

"However, this great potential will not provide maximum benefits if the community does not have adequate skills and understanding in managing finances. This is why financial literacy and inclusion are very important," he said.

The LPS Financial Festival aims to encourage increased financial literacy as a joint movement that can be felt by all levels of society, not only in the city center but also in various regions.

Penyelenggaraan festival itu juga merupakan upaya LPS dalam memperluas jangkauan komunikasi, termasuk untuk memastikan bahwa masyarakat semakin mengenal dan memahami LPS.

"Pemerintah telah menetapkan, target pertumbuhan ekonomi pada RAPBN 2026 adalah sebesar 5,4 persen. Bagi sebagian orang angka ini cukup tinggi dan ambisius, namun sebenarnya angka ini cukup realistis untuk bisa dicapai,” katanya.

The organizing of the festival is also an effort by LPS to expand the reach of communication, including to ensure that people get to know and understand LPS.

"The government has set a target for economic growth in the 2026 RAPBN is 5.4 percent. For some people this figure is quite high and ambitious, but actually this figure is quite realistic to achieve," he said.
