PGN Explores Potential Natural Gas Distribution To Gosowong Gold Mine

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is exploring the potential for cooperation in distributing natural gas to the gold mining industry with PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM). The two companies are currently preparing a joint study on the use of natural gas in Gosowong Mine, North Halmahera, North Maluku.

The joint study includes technical and commercial evaluations regarding infrastructure readiness and gas supply. The next step is the preparation of a cooperation plan for the sale and purchase of natural gas with schemes and details that will be outlined in the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBG). In addition, other potential cooperation will also continue to be explored to provide maximum benefits for both parties.

PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development, Rosa Permata Sari, explained that PGN is committed to providing the most optimal natural gas supply in order to provide efficiency benefits for NHM.

"In this collaboration, PGN's initiative in providing natural gas will be thoroughly taken into account in order to produce optimal operational efficiency for NHM. This is in line with PGN's steps to develop a market in the Central Indonesia East", said Rosa at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Provision of Natural Gas for Gosowong Mine some time ago.

The natural gas supply available and utilized by NHM has the potential to trigger the surrounding market to participate in using natural gas, as well as open up potential additional demand for gas production from the supply side. This natural gas market that is formed will have a positive impact on the economy of the surrounding community with more affordable energy access.

In addition to economic benefits, PGN also supports the mining industry in carrying out sustainable and environmentally friendly operations. As the cleanest fossil energy with the lowest carbon emissions, natural gas can help NHM achieve operational efficiency and accelerate industrial transitions to cleaner and more sustainable energy utilization.

"This cooperation also emphasizes the principles of good corporate governance (GCG) to achieve positive results for both companies and the community later," said Rosa.

NHM hopes that natural gas supplied by PGN can support mining operations in order to increase production. With increased production, it will have an optimal impact in the competitive chain of domestic energy utilization.
