Inflation Of 0.13 Percent In April 2021, The Trigger Of Chicken Meat

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April 2021 experienced 0.13 percent inflation. This inflation was higher than the previous month, which was recorded at only 0.08 percent.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Setianto, said that the annual inflation was recorded at 1.42 percent. Meanwhile, inflation for the calendar year (ytd) in 2021 will reach 0.58 percent. Furthermore, he said that chicken meat had the highest trigger in April's inflation rate of 0.13 percent, reaching nearly half of it.

"If we look at the commodities that contributed 0.13 percent to inflation, there were chicken meat commodities with a 0.06 percent share. Then several other commodities such as cooking oil, oranges, gold, papaya, fresh fish, and kretek cigarettes had a 0.01 share. percent, "he said in a virtual press conference, Monday, May 3.

Then, continued Setianto, several food staples that experienced price increases, such as cayenne pepper, contributed to the largest deflation of up to 0.05 percent. Other commodities affected by deflation were red chilies and shallots with 0.02 percent each. Meanwhile, for the commodity rice, spinach and kale each amounted to 0.01 percent.

Setianto said that out of 90 CPI cities monitored by BPS, 72 cities experienced inflation, the remaining 18 cities. The highest inflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 1.31 percent.

Furthermore, Setianto explained, inflation in the city in North Sulawesi was caused by a number of commodities such as sorihi fish, skipjack and cayenne pepper.

Then, the lowest inflation occurred in Yogyakarta at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Jayapura at minus 1.26 percent, while the lowest deflation was in Tanjungpandan, which was minus 0.02 percent.

"If we look at the commodities, there are yellow tail fish, skipjack tuna, tomatoes and water spinach. These are commodities that contribute to deflation in Jayapura," he said.
