JAKARTA - Perum Bulog for the West Java Region (Jabar) said that the Cirebon Branch Bulog succeeded in realizing the absorption of 112,753 tons of rice equivalent which made it the largest contributor nationally.

West Java Bulog Regional Leader Mohamad Alexander said the achievement showed the great potential of West Java as a national rice barn.

"The data on the absorption of rice grain from farmers until May 21, 2025, noted that the achievement of the performance of the Cirebon Branch Bulog has reached 112,753 tons. This amount is also the highest in history," Alexander said in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 22.

He said this success could not be separated from the collaborative strategy implemented by Bulog with various parties, including the TNI, local governments, agriculture services, and farmer partners.

"Bulog formed 25 Gabah pick-up teams which go directly to the harvest point every day to pick up the harvest and make payments on the spot," he said.

Apart from Cirebon, two other branch offices under the auspices of West Java Bulog are also included in the top five national grain absorptions.

He said Bulog Indramayu Branch was in second place with an absorption of 95,672 tons, while Bulog Karawang Branch took fourth place with 77,581 tons.

"Of the top five nationals, three of them come from West Java. This proves the effectiveness of the absorption strategy we run," said Alexander.

Overall, he said, eight branch offices under the coordination of West Java Bulog had absorbed 389,527 tons of unhulled rice, or 70.74 percent of the 550,674 tonne target set until the end of May.

"As one of the national rice barn areas, West Java does have considerable potential for grain absorption," he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that his party will continue to optimize the absorption of farmers' unhulled rice according to the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram.

"We are optimistic that the absorption target will be achieved, considering that a number of areas in West Java are still in the main harvest period," he said.
