JAKARTA - To anticipate a surge in passengers during the long holiday in May 2025, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) increased the carrying capacity of 9,948 seats per day in order to provide maximum service to the community.

This capacity addition is part of our anticipatory strategy in dealing with the high mobility of the community during a long weekend, KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 10.

He said the addition came from two main schemes, namely the operation of 14 additional trains which resulted in 6,312 seats per day, as well as the optimization of daily circuit formations (stamformation) which added 3,636 seats.

"In total, 9,948 additional seats are available every day during the long holiday period," he said.

He said that his party wanted to ensure that customers had access to safe, comfortable, and timely transportation.

Furthermore, he said the optimization of train stamformation was carried out on a number of favorite trains, including the Malabar Train (Malang "Bandung), Argo Sindoro Train and Argo Muria Train (Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng"Gambir), Menoreh Train (Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng "Pasarsenen), to Lodaya Train (Solo Balapan "Bandung).

Other trains such as the Gunung Jati Train, the Facultative Cirebon Train, Kamandaka Train, and Kaligung Train also experienced an increase in formations.

There are various classes of seats available, ranging from 60 tourist train seats, 3,372 executive class seats, to 3,372 economic class seats. The variety is prepared to reach all segments of KAI customers.

Not only that, KAI also increased the number of daily trips by operating 14 additional trains supported by operational facilities readiness, including 8 additional locomotives, 79 additional trains, and optimizing 22 train stabformation.

"A total of 109 facilities are ready to operate in support of smooth long weekend transportation," he explained.

Especially during the Vesak Day holiday transportation and joint leave from 9 to 14 May 2025, KAI provided a total of 980,929 seats. This number consists of 825,297 long-distance train seats and 155,632 local train seats.

KAI also guarantees the readiness of waiting room support facilities to boarding services that have been integrated with face recognition systems at large stations. This innovation accelerates the ticket validation process and improves customer experience.

Overall, KAI runs a total of 2,441 train trips during this long holiday period, consisting of Regular Trains and Additional Trains.

"All of these steps are a form of KAI's commitment to maintaining smooth community mobility and supporting national connectivity," said Anne.
