BPS: Airline Ticket Discount Makes The Transportation Sector Deflation On Eid 2025

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the transportation sector experienced deflation of 0.04 percent in March, despite the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr 2025.

Deputy for BPS Production Statistics, M Habibullah explained that for the last three years, namely 2022 to 2024, the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr has always been a boost for inflation in the transportation sector.

However, continued Habibullah, this year's Ramadan and Eid actually made the transportation sector record deflation of 0.04 percent.

Historically, from 2022 to 2024, transportation groups have always experienced inflation at the moment of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Meanwhile, at the moment of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr 2025, this group experienced a deflation of 0.08 percent with a deflation of 0.01 percent," he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, March 8.

Habibullah revealed that the main factor in deflation in the transportation sector was due to the decline in aircraft ticket prices during the Lebaran 2025 homecoming period.

For your information, the government has provided discounted aircraft tickets for the Lebaran 2025 period. Where, the price of aircraft tickets was successfully lowered by around 13 to 14 percent.

"This group's deflation was driven by a reduction in air transport rates which contributed 0.04 percent to deflation with a deflation rate of 4.83 percent," he said.
