People Leave Oil, Minister Of Trade: If It Is According To Size, It Will Be Purchased

KARAWANG - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso opened his voice regarding many people leaving a simple packaged cooking oil, Oilita. The action was after the content of the Oilita volume was cheated.

Budi considered that people were reluctant to buy for Oilita which did not match the dose. However, he continued, if what is circulating in the market is in accordance with the packaging listed on the packaging, the public will continue to buy Oilita.

Moreover, continued Budi, the price of simple packaged cooking oil with Oilita is much cheaper than other brand cooking oil.

"Those who don't want to buy it are because of the 750 ml. If it's according to size, they will definitely buy it, because the price is indeed cheaper than the others," Budi said when met in Karawang, West Java, Thursday, March 13.

Budi also explained that the Oilita market segment is different compared to other packaged cooking oil. Budi said that Oilita is targeting the lower middle class.

"Indeed, the Oilita was actually ordered for the middle class, right," said Budi.

So far, continued Budi, the majority of frauds committed on Oilita are mostly for bottle packaging rather than plastic.

"Most of the bottles, yes. Everything is checked, but mostly bottles," he said.

For your information, the Ministry of Trade together with the National Police Food Task Force (Satgas) sealed a factory that produces simple packaged cooking oil with a trademark, Oilita owned by PT Artha Eka Global Asia (AEGA) in Karawang, West Java.

The sealing was in the aftermath of the finding that the company was caught reducing the content of the Oilita flood circulating in the market when an inspection was carried out at a factory owned by AEGA located in Tole Iskandar, Depok.

In that exposure, the Ministry of Trade together with the National Police's Food Task Force found 140 boxes of Oilita and 32,284 bottles that had not been filled. Where one box of Oilita contains 12 bottles of oil. In addition, there are bottled bottles of Oilita with a capacity that does not comply with the regulation provisions.

Previously, in January 2025, the Ministry of Trade also sealed PT Navyta Nabati Indonesia (NNI) located in Tangerang. The company was found producing Oilita not reaching 1 liter or at that time 750 ml.
