Minister Ara Says Housing SBN Will Be Issued In Large Amount

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait (Ara) said Housing Government Securities (SBN) would be issued in large quantities to support liquidity in the construction of the three million homes program.

"Yes, we agreed earlier. (But) we haven't conveyed the figures yet. We have coordinated all parties with all the rules. However, I can confirm that the number is large and this shows the great support of BI (Bank Indonesia) for the housing sector and this is a breakthrough step," said Ara to reporters at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, Thursday, February 20.

Meanwhile, SBN will be issued by BI in supporting the three million homes program.

There are three supports by BI, namely, fully supporting programs in Astacita both in terms of policy to funding.

"We believe that this Astacita program can support high economic growth, create jobs and people's welfare," said BI Governor Perry Warjiyo.

Second, regarding funding support. BI will provide incentives in the form of liquidity to banks that distribute credit to priority sectors.

The additional liquidity incentives for this bank are up to IDR 80 trillion.

Third, BI will support housing program funding through purchasing Government Securities (SBN), but from the secondary market.
