AHY: Infrastructure Is The Key To Food Security

JAKARTA - Infrastructure is the key to food security and people's welfare. The infrastructure development is in line with the vision of Asta Cita President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto

The Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) gave an example, namely dam construction which is not only a water provider, but also as a supporter of agricultural productivity.

"Don't build infrastructure just to build infrastructure, but build infrastructure that has a direct impact on productivity and improve people's welfare. Integrated dams with a good irrigation system will help improve agricultural products, support food price stability, and create food independence which is President Prabowo's main focus," he said, quoting Antara.

He also emphasized that the infrastructure built is not just physical, but must have a direct impact on people's welfare.

The infrastructure that is built must be integrated with each other in order to provide maximum benefits for the community.

Incomplete planning, according to him, could hinder the achievement of development goals.

"Integration is important, planning should not be in pieces, for that, integration in infrastructure development planning will ensure that these projects have a maximum impact on the welfare of the community and support the achievement of President Prabowo's Asta Cita vision," said AHY.

For information, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono or AHY, stated that food self-sufficiency is very important in order to meet domestic needs and reduce dependence on food imports.

According to AHY, when geopolitical and even war pressure, it can disrupt the supply of food ingredients or commodities if the price is suddenly too high while Indonesia really needs imported commodities, it is difficult to meet domestic needs.
