Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs (Menko Pangan) Zulkifli Hasan said Perum Bulog received a total budget of IDR 39 trillion to absorb 3 million tons of rice equivalent until April 2025.
"Bulog's money is Rp23 trillion ready, now it has been agreed Rp16.6 trillion from the Minister of Finance, so there is already Rp39 trillion," said Zulkifli as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 31.
He said the government would absorb rice from farmers in February, March and April 2025 or during the main harvest.
With this budget, Zulkifli continued, Bulog had no reason not to be able to buy grain or rice from farmers.
"So there is no reason for Bulog not to be able to buy at a price that has been determined by the Government," he said.
The government has decided to buy harvested dry unhulled rice (GKP) for IDR 6,500 per kilogram. This figure is a government purchase price (HPP) and the private sector is also expected to be able to buy at a similar price.
Zulkifli hopes that this harvest season can run smoothly so that Indonesia is able to realize food self-sufficiency.
"Hopefully in February, March, April, we can absorb all of this harvest so that farmers get good benefits, so that the following year, the following month we will continue to plant so that the self-sufficiency we provide can be achieved and sustainable for the following years," said Zulkifli.
