JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the handling of floods and landslides in Petungkriyono District, Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, was prioritized for cleaning landslide materials and handling fallen trees to open public access.

"First we do the detailed mapping first, later the Central Java BBPJN (National Road Implementation Center) team will use drones, but wait for the weather to not rain first. We prioritize the opening of access so that people are not isolated," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, January 30.

In addition, said Dody, his party also prioritized replacing the connecting bridge between villages that collapsed in the floods of the Weloh and Kasimpar rivers.

He said that currently two units of the 30 meter long Bailey Bridge have been prepared as emergency connecting access to temporarily replace the function of the bridge affected by landslides and floods already in Karangjati.

"The Bailey Bridge is ready. Only access to carry it using heavy equipment is still not possible, there are still large stones that need to be cleaned," he said.

Dody added, while waiting for the construction of a permanent bridge, it is hoped that Bailey Bridge can help the community to carry out daily activities after the flood disaster in the Petungkriyono District.

"Earlier I said that for a while the matter of days will be completed. But if it is permanent, yes, it may take time, because we have to draw the plan first," he added.
