Achieve The Best Of The Best Predicate, Pupuk Kaltim Borong 11 IGA 2025 Award

PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) won the title of Best of The Best Indonesia Green Award (IGA) 2025, from the La Tofi School of Social Responsibility. This award is a recognition of the company's contribution in the environment, which this year was achieved through 11 national award categories for various sustainability initiatives realized.

SVP Corporate Secretary of Pupuk Kaltim, Teguh Ismartono, revealed that the 11 award categories that were won this year were the result of the dedication of all elements of Pupuk Kaltim, who had worked hard to realize the company's vision as an entity responsible for the environment. This is also the Company's motivation to continue to innovate and make the best contribution to the environment to society.

Like the Roadmap CSR Pupuk Kaltim program for Environmental Sustainability, it is designed to create a sustainable strategy that integrates environmental aspects in all company activities. With a systematic approach, this roadmap becomes a reference in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially environmentally related.

"This success not only reflects the company's leadership in environmental innovation, but also Pupuk Kaltim's strategic efforts in promoting a strategic and collaborative approach to becoming a pioneer of sustainability in Indonesia," said Teguh, in his statement, quoted on Sunday, January 26.

All efforts related to the environment are carried out by Pupuk Kaltim in a measured manner according to the principles of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), so that the implementation of the program can run more optimally. For example, in calculating carbon footprint, it is carried out through a life cycle assessment study to reduce the impact of carbon footprint.

The move includes calculating the carbon footprint of the company's entire operational processes, from production to distribution. The data obtained are used to design various emission reduction measures more effectively.

Meanwhile, in terms of the Organization of Corporate Social Responsibility, Pupuk Kaltim puts forward an effective strategy to achieve the PKT Gold target, as a form of the company's commitment to a sustainable future. In this idea, Pupuk Kaltim initiated various sustainability programs in line with the Company's mission as a pioneer of the green industry in Indonesia.

"One of them is the Community Forest program which is carried out in stages, through planting various types of tree seedlings with a target of 10 million trees by 2030. This is also to increase the carrying capacity of the land from previously unproductive to be reused in order to produce," explained Teguh.

Another category that led Pupuk Kaltim to win an award this year is the development of natural conservation tourism in the Mangrove Telok Bangko Ecotourism program, which integrates mangrove conservation with community-based tourism development. In addition to preserving the mangrove ecosystem, this activity also provides economic benefits directly to program managers.

Furthermore, for the handling of plastic waste, through the MUDAH Waste Management' program, it focuses on integrated plastic waste management, ranging from public education to the application of innovative recycling technology. Then the Agricultural Productivity Program Increases the Water Safety Agency, which aims to protect water resources through community-based approaches, such as environmentally friendly agricultural land management and water use efficiency.

For the factory's operational field, Pupuk Kaltim this year also carries Megaclean innovation at Utility Factory-2, which emphasizes energy efficiency and the use of new and renewable energy. The technology implemented in this program has succeeded in significantly suppressing energy consumption, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions from production activities.

"In terms of developing biodiversity, Pupuk Kaltim uses Bottom Ash for artificial reef media. This is not only an effort to use industrial waste creatively, but also supports the preservation of the underwater ecosystem," Teguh continued.

This year's award cannot be separated from the role of Pupuk Kaltim in utilizing renewable energy, through Generating Renewable Energy and Efficiency Charging for Green Electric Public Transportation (GREEN GEAR). This program utilizes renewable energy to support the company's operational vehicle transportation, in the form of electric vehicles that are more environmentally friendly to reduce air pollution.

In addition to instilling environmental awareness and facing climate change through the Integrated Compos Agricultural Program for Innovative and Prosperous Babadan (PKT Bisa), which teaches the public to adopt sustainable agricultural practices as an adaptation measure to climate change.

"All of these ideas are supported by digital-based innovation, both in disseminating information related to the preservation of nature and sustainability, as well as those that are educational for the community. So that the use of technology is maximized as a form of added value for environmental programs initiated by Pupuk Kaltim," added Teguh.

He also ensured that all initiatives that were running would continue to be maximized, to provide greater benefits for the environment in a continuous manner. Pupuk Kaltim as one of the companies with the title of the green industry in Indonesia, has a strong commitment and responsibility for sustainability.

"That's why every program that is initiated is in line with sustainability steps, as a form of implementation of the ESG principle promoted by Pupuk Kaltim. And we will continue to maximize this in the future," Teguh concluded.
