JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and his staff held a meeting with the World Bank on Wednesday afternoon, January 15.

Hal tersebut terungkap setelah Trenggono mengunggah foto dirinya bersama dengan Country Director for Indonesia and Timor Leste, East Asia and Pacific World Bank Kalimantan Turk di akun Instagram resminya @swtrenggonono.

"This afternoon, I met the Director of World Bank - Mrs. Turk and his staff at the KKP office, Wednesday, January 15," Trenggono wrote in his photo upload quoted on Thursday, January 16.

On this occasion, Trenggono admitted that he explained the planned revitalization of the construction of 78,000 hectares of unused shrimp ponds aka idle along Serang, Banten Province to Banyuwangi in East Java.

"Hopefully with the support from the World Bank, the planned revitalization of idle ponds that will be used as tilapia copy fish cultivation can run well. Thus, the target of food self-sufficiency in 2027 will be realized quickly," he added.

Previously, the government planned to revitalize ponds on the North Coast (Pantura) of Java within the next five years. The locations are spread across four provinces, namely Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java.

Minister Trenggono said the total area of land that could be used in the four provinces reached 78,550 hectares.

In detail, there are 2,480 hectares of land in Banten Province, 33,740 hectares in West Java, and 14,490 hectares in Central Java and East Java reaching 27,840 hectares.

"In Pantura, there are 78,000 hectares of ex-fish ponds that have not functioned properly for more than 30 years. Some areas have even become industrial areas, but there are still 78,000 (hectares) who are unemployed. We will revitalize this," said Trenggono in the agenda of the 2024 Investment National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) which was monitored virtually, Wednesday, November 11, 2024.

Based on the presentation, the revitalization action plan will be carried out from 2025 to 2029.

First, starting in 2025, revitalization will be carried out for 13,000 hectares first. Then, in 2026 there will be 15,000 hectares.

Next, in 2027 there will be 20,000 hectares. Then in 2028 it will reach 15,000 hectares and in 2029 it will be revitalized for 15,550 hectares.
