PTPP Ready To Play An Important Role In The 1 Million Houses Of Cooperation Of The Republic Of Indonesia And Qatar

JAKARTA - Cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar to build 1 million houses is a very positive strategic step, especially in the context of meeting housing needs for the people of Indonesia, this initiative is certainly very promising and can be a catalyst for economic growth and community welfare.

The Indonesian government shows its commitment to improving people's welfare through the people's housing development program. On Wednesday (08/01/2025), Indonesia officially established cooperation between MOU and Qatar for the construction of 1 million houses for low-income people.

The cooperation document was signed by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, who represented the Indonesian side, and Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman Hassan Al-Thani, Secretary General of the Royal Family Council as well as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Qatar Kingdom's Humanitarian Funds.

Apart from being witnessed directly by President Prabowo Subianto, the signing was also attended by a number of important figures, including the Head of the Hashim Djojohadikusumo Housing Task Force, Minister of Investment Rosan Roeslani, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Deputy Minister of PKP Fahri Hamzah, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta.

With the signing of this cooperation (MoU), Qatar became the first investor in the construction project of 3 million houses. As is known, this development project was launched by President Prabowo Subianto.

Previously, after the signing of the MoU, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait said, according to the President's direction that this is cooperation between the governments. Then our task is that we become a solid team, we prepare land owned by the state. He also said that investment from Qatar will focus on building one million housing units in urban areas. The settlement will later be targeted for the lower middle class.

He emphasized that the development will use the land owned by institutions and ministries. Among them, such as land from assets of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance.

The locations that have so far been built are like in the Senayan area to Kalibata. In addition, construction will also be carried out near the station as carried out by Perumnas.

"The location will be surveyed soon by Sheikh. And we are ready to bring some of the locations that have been said earlier. In Kemayoran, there are around Senayan, around Kalibata," explained Maruarar Sirait.

"Later, Mr. Erick will prepare from PTPP, KAI, and Perumnas. Later from there further because this is G2G, the state is here to prepare idle land and there are no problems that are ready to be built," added Maruarar.

In line with Ara, Deputy Minister of PKP Fahri Hamzah added that the residence to be built by Qatar is in the form of vertical housing. Construction is not only carried out in Jakarta, but throughout Indonesia.

"PT PP (Persero) Tbk, one of the construction and investment companies in Indonesia (PTPP) is committed to supporting the investment cooperation efforts of the Indonesian government and Qatar in realizing the construction of 1 million houses in Indonesia," said Joko Raharjo Corporate Secretary of PTPP.

Through this support, PTPP will play an active role in carrying out construction for the construction of 1 million houses. Some of the land ready for use is located in Jabodetabek, West Java, Yogyakarta and Pekanbaru, with a total area of 26 hectares.

As an open company through various projects that have been launched, PTPP is optimistic that it can be one of the drivers in the realization of the 1 million home program. By always prioritizing and applying the principles of good corporate governance, PTPP will always be committed to implementing the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects, which in the future will have a positive impact not only as a competitive advantage for the company but also sustainable development for the country.

The Investment Cooperation of the Government of Indonesia and Qatar aims to provide decent and affordable housing for low-income people (MBR). This collaboration also aims to improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, as well as open investment opportunities in other sectors. Thus, this project is expected to have a long-term positive impact on the economy of the two countries.
