KPK Regarding Hasto's Rescheduling Examination: Possibly After January 10

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said investigators would reschedule the summons of the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto. The time has not been confirmed but possibly after January 10 or the PDIP Anniversary.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika in response to Hasto's absence today. The politician should have been summoned as a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation that made Harun Masiku run away.

"The person concerned is definitely rescheduled, it is certain that it is rescheduled, most likely above the 10th (January, ed)," said Tessa to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, January 6.

Tessa did not specify the reason investigators granted Hasto's request. But this kind of incident is common.

"Of course, if the person concerned has agreed on the next examination date with the investigator, he should be obeyed by the person concerned," he said.

"In the event that investigators also have flexibility to be able to see the reasons for the absence of both witnesses and suspects, whether it is acceptable or not, return to the Criminal Procedure Code.

"If the witness is not present for appropriate and reasonable reasons, the investigator can recall with a second summons," continued Tessa.

As previously reported, Hasto Kristiyanto, who is the Secretary General of PDIP, has been named a suspect by the KPK together with Donny Tri Istiqomah, PDIP cadres and lawyers, regarding the alleged bribery of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR.

Both are suspected of bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth Harun Masiku's move to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto was also charged as a suspect in the investigation. He allegedly asked Harun Masiku to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

Hasto was then summoned by investigators on Monday, January 6. However, he asked for a reschedule because there had already been an event related to the PDIP Anniversary.

"Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has not been able to fulfill the summons today because there is a series of previously scheduled PDIP Anniversary activities," said Ronny B. Talapesy as Chair of the PDIP DPP for Legal Reform in a written statement, Monday, January 6.
