Government Raises Rice And Corn Prices, Badanas Boss: To Drive Production Increase

The government has adjusted the Government Purchase Price (HPP) policy for Panen Dry Grain (GKP), rice, and feed corn commodities. This step is taken as an effort to increase production and pursue food self-sufficiency targets.

Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi explained that the HPP of Panen Dry Grain (GKP), rice, and feed corn will be the basis for Perum Bulog to absorb the products of domestic farmers.

The GKP HPP and feed corn at the farmer level are adjusted to Rp6,500 per kilogram (kg) and a food corn cellphone of Rp5,500 per kg. This means that there is an increase of Rp500 for GKP and feed corn.

"This is done so that the enthusiasm of the production of a farmer continues to be encouraged and the Government's Food Reserves through Bulog will be stronger," he said in an official statement, Monday, December 30.

Arief said that based on the projection of the Ministry of Food and Harvest Coordinator next year, it would increase. Where, this harvest must be absorbed by Bulog.

"Earlier, the Coordinating Minister for Food also said that next year's harvest, how much our domestic farmers produce, must be absorbed by Bulog. For that, then we will focus with Bulog to increase the number of storage warehouses and dryer facilities," he said.

For your information, the adjustment of the GKP HPP itself has been carried out by Bapanas together with various parties, including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

Meanwhile, from among associations, among others, the Indonesian Farmers' Harmony Association (HKTI), the Indonesian Farmers' Union (SPI), Mainstay Fisherman's Farmers' Contacts (KTNA), the Indonesian Farmers' Seed and Technology Bank Association (AB2TI), the Indonesian Rice Entrepreneurs' Association (PERPADI). NFA also involves BUMN and BUMD such as Perum Bulog and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda).
