JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) revealed that Apple, a leading technology company from America, has never come to negotiate the remaining settlement of investment commitments in 2023 amounting to 10 million US dollars and new proposals submitted for the year 2024-2026 worth 100 million US dollars.
"The Minister (Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita) has said how many times. He has been invited here but has never appeared," said Ministry of Industry spokesman Febri Hendri Antoni Arief as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 30.
Febri said that previously he had established communication through a messaging application with Apple about the invitation.
However, he continued, he had not received the response as expected.
"Respons that we hope they come here, the physical presence of the top brass of Apple," he said.
He also admitted that Apple had sent an official proposal to the Ministry of Industry's Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE), and had submitted an informal answer.
He explained that the plan for formal answers to proposals from the Indonesian government would be submitted in direct negotiations if Apple officials came to the country.
"That's why we are still waiting for Apple to come to the Ministry of Industry, direct negotiations. So what is our assessment of the proposal we have not been able to convey. That's because of the subject to negotiations," he said again.
It is known, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) immediately invited technology companies from the United States, Apple to Indonesia to discuss the payment of the remaining investment commitments in 2023, as well as discussing new proposals submitted for 2024-2026 (25/11).

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the negotiations would discuss the remaining investment commitments of Apple in 2023 which amounted to 10 million US dollars, as well as negotiations on a new proposal of 100 million US dollars which were deemed inconsistent with the four categories of fair principles studied by his party.
The four aspects are the comparison of Apple's investment in countries other than Indonesia, the comparison of investments in brands of cellphones, handheld computers, and tablets (HKT) of others in the country, the creation of added value and state revenue, and the creation of jobs from the realization of the investment generated.
