JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a decrease in the import value in November 2024 by 10.71 percent to 19.59 billion US dollars. Previously, in October 2024 BPS recorded an import value of 21.94 billion US dollars.

"In November 2024, the total import value reached 19.59 billion US dollars or 10.71 percent of the October 2024 condition," said Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, December 16.

Amalia said that oil and gas imports were recorded at US $ 2.57 billion or a decrease of 29.88 percent on a monthly basis (MOM). Meanwhile, non-oil and gas imports worth US $ 17.02 billion also experienced a monthly decline of 6.87 percent.

"The decrease in the monthly import value was driven by a decrease in the value of non-oil and gas imports which contributed by -5.72 percent and a decrease in the value of oil and gas imports with a contribution of -4.99 percent," explained Amalia.

Although it was recorded that it decreased monthly, continued Amalia, on an annual basis the value of imports in November 2024 increased by 0.01 percent. The import value of oil and gas fell by 26.32 percent while non-oil and gas rose 5.71 percent.

"If we look at the increase in the annual import value of non-oil and gas commodities, this is driven mainly by an increase in volume," said Amalia.
