Anticipating A Surge In Passengers, KAI Adds 56 Train Trips

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has prepared an additional 56 trains (KA) to welcome the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays. This additional train was prepared in anticipation of a surge in passengers during that period.

The operational period for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 which KAI has set will last for 18 days, from 19 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba also said that from 19 December 2024 to 5 January 2025 KAI Group provided a total of 44,754,280 seats consisting of 3,572,588 KAI Passengers.

Then, 35,407,300 KAI Commuter Passengers, 4,142,520 Jabodebek LRT Passengers, 588,304 South Sumatra LRT Passengers, 7,416 KAI Wisata Passengers, 487,728 KAI Airport Passengers, 29,160 Makassar-Parepare Train Passengers and 519,264 KCIC Passengers.

Regarding the fleet, Anne said KAI would operate 52 additional trains for medium and long-distance train trips for Commercial class, 2 PSO long-distance trains and 2 Commercial Local Trains.

Furthermore, Anne also said that each seating capacity was 491,976 for Medium and Long Distance trains for Commercial Class, 10,600 PSO Long Distance Trains, and 14,600 Commercial Local Trains.

"This is to accommodate the enthusiasm of the people who tend to be high during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays," he said during a press conference, at Gambir Station, Jakarta, Monday, December 9.

For the number of KAI Group trips during the Nataru period, continued Anne, the total reached 40,782 trains. Details of 7,328 train trips managed by KAI, 23,204 train trips managed by KAI Commuter, and 1,872 train trips managed by KAI Airport.

Then, 5,598 Jabodebek LRT trips, 1,772 South Sumatra LRT trips, 36 KAI-Tourism managed trips, 108 Makassar-Parepare trains and 864 KCIC-managed airshed trips.

"We have prepared 777 additional personnel for operational needs, including Road Guard (PJL), Track Inspection Officer (PPJ), and Dapsus Officers spread across the Java and Sumatra areas. There are also posts from all Commissioners, Directors, and KAI management to ensure that the operation of train travel and services to passengers goes well," said Anne.
