In Front Of Property Entrepreneurs, Fahri Hamzah Criticizes The Ministry Of Public Works As If Contractors

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Fahri Hamzah bluntly criticized the Ministry of Public Works (PU) as if he was a contractor.

This was conveyed by Fahri when delivering his remarks on the agenda of the Dialogue with the Developer Association entitled 'Accelerated Distribution of the 3 Million Houses Program' at the BTN Tower, Jakarta, Friday, November 29.

"I gave a frame (a big picture of the 3 million house program) first so that my friends (proper developers) don't get me wrong, as if the government will become a contractor. You can't!" said Fahri.

"I'm sorry, I'm also really criticized PU. I've seen that PU for a long time, it's like a contractor company, it can't be!" he continued.

He stressed that the government should be present to help sectors that cannot be financed by the private sector. The government is asked to be present in the midst of the market's inability.

He also said that the presence of the state was an easy regulator. Fahri also emphasized that in the future the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will not compete with the private sector in the plan to build 3 million houses per year.

"Let my friends calm down and understand, I'm worried that someone will read the wrong signal. Later, it won't calm down and don't understand," said Fahri.

"The presence of the country that I am currently communicating with the bureaucracy. It is not a contractor and developer. (Not) being a competitor to you," Fahri said to the applause of property developers associations.

The 3 million houses are President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program. In detail, as many as 2 million houses per year will be built in villages and 1 million apartments every year in urban areas.
