Sri Mulyani Claims Indonesia Entered The Top 10 Fastest Countries To Vaccinate COVID-19

JAKARTA - The recovery of the world and national economy is supported by COVID-19 vaccination. The Government of Indonesia continues to accelerate vaccination programs in order to achieve herd immunity. Currently, there are already 13 million doses of the injected vaccine.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said with the number of vaccine injections reaching 13 million doses, Indonesia managed to be included in the top 10 countries that vaccinate the most COVID-19 in the world.

"To this day we have more than 12 million maybe even 13 million (doses of vaccines) and Indonesia is among the top ten countries that have vaccines very much," he said in the event 'Sarahsehan Acceleration of National Economic Recovery', Friday, April 9.

Sri Mulyani said the COVID-19 vaccination program is one of the game changers or game changes of the government in restoring the national economy. Because, able to give confidence to the community to return to activities.

However, he said the vaccination program did not escape the unpredictable dynamics such as the delay in the arrival of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

"We had four vaccine brands but one then AstraZeneca experienced a slight delay. It continues to experience dynamics that can never be predicted exactly," he said.

The country's treasurer said the government would encourage other efforts to complement the acceleration amid the dynamics regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. He said that the government will also continue to carry out structural reforms to support the business world from the impact of the pandemic, so that the recovery both in terms of demand and supply can be accelerated.

Sri Mulyani details some of the structural reforms undertaken by the government. First, there is Law No. 2 of 2020 that makes the state budget flexible so that the government can budget up to Rp2,750 trillion for this year.

Rp699.43 trillion of this amount is focused on the national economic recovery program (PEN). The PEN program focuses on five areas including social protection of Rp157.41 trillion, health of Rp176.3 trillion, business incentives of Rp58.46 trillion, support of MSMEs and corporations of Rp184.83 trillion and priority programs of Rp122.44 trillion.

The government, said the former Managing Director of the World Bank, also carried out structural reforms by presenting Law No. 11 of 2020 on Copyright Work. Where currently the ministry / institution is obliged to apply the Law through an action, one of which is with the establishment of an Investment Management Agency (LPI).
